Knowing what to eat if you have acid reflux at restaurants can be a very challenging experience. However, as long as you are dedicated to watching what you eat, you will most certainly be able to get through this challenge and enjoy eating out with your family and friends. The hard part can be accepting that you are suffering from acid reflux as an ongoing condition and you will need to practice a bit of discipline if you want to avoid unpleasant symptoms. This discipline will involve changes to both your diet and your overall lifestyle.
This won’t rule out eating in restaurants, but it will mean that you’ll need to be selective of the dishes you choose, as the foods you eat have an enormous impact on the occurrence and degree of the acid reflux symptoms you feel.

I am a 24 year old female. Since beginning of July I’ve been having pains in my LEFT kidney. It was nothing terrible just a faint numbness. I just rubbed it and slept on my right side and it would usually go away. A week ago the pain in my LEFT kidney radiates to my LEFT shoulder blade and the faint pain stays there. Plus the pain got worse. Yesterday I got a pain on my RIGHT ovary… that pain for the most part went away. TODAY I have pain on my RIGHT kidney and the pain radiates to my RIGHT shoulder blade. NOW both sides are hurting. It’s a faint numbness that gets to a sharp pain for a few seconds. If I take a deep breath I feel the pain in my back. Today I am also getting acid reflux with it. FYI my pee is normal. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow but people are telling me it’s my kidneys, gallbladder, stones, ovary infection, mini heart attacks or just bad gas. What do I believe??? I know I will get an answer tomorrow but I’m scared as hell now and want a better educated idea on what might be going wrong here. I take vitamins every morning, drink lots of water, and don’t have a bad diet (I’ve actually lost a lot of weight recently). Please help!

Please, only mature and genuine responses requested. Thank you.
Maybe consuming alcohol is the root of the problem?

Even though it can happen to anyone, not all people are aware of Acid Reflux symptoms, which are associated with the disease that is medically recognized as the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Some may even take for granted the pains that they feel that are actually related to this disease, but then dismiss them as normal and temporary, or even totally neglect them. This is very dangerous because GERD is a sickness that should not be underestimated, and a complete understanding of it is much needed.
Acid reflux happens when the liquid material that are supposed to churn in our stomach and go down as it is absorbed by our body come up to the esophagus and damage its lining. This is caused by a number of factors, but those things primarily happen because the lower and upper esophageal sphincters that are supposed to regulate the passageway of the digestive tract loosen up and permit the opposite flow of the gastric juices. Internal inflammation and chest pain are just some of the effects of this abnormality, so immediate response to such cases are necessary.

Many might be wondering if acid reflux medication really works. Some would say yes and other might say no. To evaluate the medication, it is best to understand first what acid reflux is. Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD is another term for acid reflux. It usually occurs when the esophageal sphincter opens and loses its force that allows the food and acid reflux into the esophagus. When this happens the patient may feel a burning sensation called heartburn. This condition requires immediate diagnosis and treatment. If the condition is left unattended it can badly corrode the lining of the esophagus that may cause inflammation and possibly even cancer of the esophagus. Persistent acid reflux with heartburn can affect the person’s daily activity and can seriously impinge on the esophagus.
Acid reflux medication is not the remedy of choice even if they can treat the symptom. There are four classes of medications for acid reflux: antacids, alginates, H2 antagonist and proton pump inhibitor. There is a fifth class of medication which is being opposed by doctors – the natural medication that is gaining popularity because according to some it does not only treat the symptoms, but it also cure the disease.

I am a 25 year old Male. For approximately a month and 1/2 I have had some sort of digestive problem. It started with acid reflux, which I have never had prior to this problems beginning. I went through a short period of vomiting in the morning due to unsettled stomach. I have weighed 195 pounds since the age of 16 until quite recently, I now weigh closer to 225. I sought the help of my doctor but he could not pin point it and sent me off with medication for a Giardia infection. (Hasn’t helped). I have had no change in diet, activity levels, life in general. If there is more information needed to help me please feel free to ask.

It sounds bizarre but it is true that children tend to suffer from acid reflux. Under normal conditions, food passes via the esophagus and the muscle existing at the bottom part of the esophagus closes off. The process is to facilitate food and liquids to remain inside the stomach.
