I was diagnosed with endo last year in July and I have gone on treatment for it. But now I am not on anything just managing it with pain killers and whatever else works. I have had acid reflux problems since I was pregnant with my son and that was more than 2 years ago and it has gotten worse now.

My four year old suffers from a horrible case of Acid Reflux which actually causes him to develop pneumonia, as he is aspirating fluids into his lungs. Can anybody recommend an alternative remedy (herbal preferably) to the Zantac that his pediatrician has prescribed?

If there’s anything more frustrating than suffering from GERD, it’s suffering from irritable bowel and GERD at the same time. If you do suffer from both conditions, you are likely very aware of how important it is to eat properly with your conditions in mind. However, you may not yet know how to treat your conditions with herbs that will benefit them both.
This being said, before you begin treatment for any condition with herbal remedies, you should always talk to your doctor, first. Though irritable bowel and GERD do cause a great deal of discomfort, and natural herbal remedies are very tempting, you need to remember that they are serious medicines and may cause reactions or medication conflicts that you weren’t expecting.

Your stomach utilizes hydrochloric acid (a highly corrosive liquid), pepsin (an enzyme that is responsible for the digestion of protein), bile (the liquid secreted by your liver that is in charge of lipids), and other substances in order to breakdown the food that you eat and properly absorb them into your body. Then, the remaining undigested food goes down to your intestine where the process of the assimilation of nutrients is continued. However, there are certain instances when the contents from your stomach ascend and pass through the esophagus again, and sometimes even reaching your throat and mouth. And when this happens, the lining of your esophagus is damaged, to the extent that inflammation can be diagnosed. This abnormality is called the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or the Acid Reflux Disease.
Symptoms of this disease include heartburn, which is ascribed as the burning sensation you feel deep down your throat and in your chest, regurgitation, the forcing out of the liquid contents from your stomach into your mouth, and chest pain, which is the primary effect of GERD. However, coughing and prickly sensations in the throat can also be signs that gastric juices have been travelling back up to where they first went through.

I’m not a doctor and I don’t want to pretend that I’m one. I am simply a former severe heartburn sufferer who had been battling this pains for over 6 years.
I’ve been to those “acid reflux bootcamps”, I have talked to probably tens of doctors and nutritionists and dietitians, paid over tens of thousands of dollars just to find the cure to my digestive pain…
I’ve spend years upon years trying to bring down this annoying pain that I got and trust me, all the medications and advise that were given by my doctors (yes, I went to more than one doctor) are pretty much not helpful in my condition.

Most people don’t realize that their lifestyle is the primary cause of their heartburn. Although it’s mainly caused by the foods and drinks they consume, some of it is caused by other things that can be changed to prevent the acid reflux and heartburn. Over the years I finally realized that with a few changes and eating the recommended foods that are natural cures I was able to cure my heartburn and acid reflux.

The last thing you want to enjoy after a great meal is acid reflux disease, also known as GERD. Some people will get acid reflux for seemingly no reason at all, or even after the lightest of meals, where other people seem to get it based on how their body reacts to certain foods. If you can determine that only certain foods cause acid reflux, the most obvious advice is to stay away from those foods! But sometimes this is hard to avoid. Like if you are having dinner with friends or at a business dinner and everyone else is having filet mignon, you might feel kind of silly being the only one at the table who orders just a salad because you already know that filet mignon will cause the discomfort of acid reflux later on.
