Help! I have acid reflux really bad and I can’t seem to eat anything this morning. Every bite of food I swallow hurts me so bad! I am taking Prilosec OTC (first day of taking it) and other antiacids. But I can’t lay down and I can’t eat anything.

I believe I may have acid reflux, but I don’t know. The doctor was checking for heart problems, but did not find any there, and I don’t think she’s a good doctor so I’m trying to find a new one (but until then) I would like to know others who have experienced any forms of acid reflux. What did it feel like, symptons, what did you go through? Chest pains? Trouble breathing? Anything you can tell me that was in your diagnosis.
Cutesy/smart alec remarks won’t be read and probably just forwarded onto Yahoo so don’t bother, I need assurances and suggestions to help the diet and see if I may have similar problems as you- and yes I will be seeing a doctor ASAP.

So yesterday was hell. Jamie’s acid reflux was STILL acting up, his bouncing/vibrating chair was broken which is the only way he’ll stay asleep during the day, I couldn’t do anything at all (barely could eat lunch because he was crying so bad), etc etc.
My sister (18) comes home and goes straight to bed because she was “tired” yet went to bed before me, and was able to sleep all night… So, the kitchen hadn’t been cleaned at ALL from the night before.

There is no doubt that acid reflux medication and Proton Pump Inhibitors in particular, do produce that much needed relief from the pain and distress that heartburn causes. But what are the implications of the long term usage of these forms of medication? Could they actually be causing more problems than they are treating?
Recent research suggests that this could be so.

I’m 20, when i was 16 i was told i had acid reflux disease. So I am figuring that could be the cause. However, I used to be able to eat tons of spicy food without getting sick at all.
