4 months old, reflux, introducing cereal……?
I am looking for parents who have experienced severe acid reflux….my son is on enfamil AR and is ready to start introducing rice cereal to his diet (spoon fed.) He has held his head up steady since two months (as his reflux and colic have made him very strong) and I am wondering if anyone has had any problems with this formula and starting cereal since it has cereal already added to it. Any ideas as I plan out how we are going to try this? (My doc says he will be fine but I would like to exhaust all avenues of information). Has anyone dealt with this? Has constipation been an issue?

my son had severe reflux and I started rice cereal (spoon fed) at 4 months and it caused no problems, however I nursed.
My daughter is on soy as has acid reflux. The soy will constipate quicker than the A.R. will..so guess I can answer this question. Yes, she did have a problem with constipation (more than she normally did) but the doctor gave me the ok to give her karo syrup daily to help her. Once I felt that was no longer worked as good, we used Pedilax liquid suppositories. As long as he does once a day, he is ok. Every child is different so he may not have any problems at all…but it is possible.
my son is only a month old and he will be on the Alimentum? formula..he was on the similac isomil but he’s having allergy problems from the milk so i was told to use that…but he also has acid reflux and the dr told me to thicken his milk at 3wks old…i do it once a day so it wont make him constipated but i was also told to elevate his head 30 mins after he eat so it wont come back up…he actually stopped breathing b/c the acid from his stomach came up and he started choking but if he has any issues with constipation try a little karo syrup in his milk and that will help him
