I know all the info to help prevent heartburn/acid reflux – don’t eat spicy foods, drink milk, don’t lay down right after eating, raise the top of your bed at night, etc, etc. But is there something I’m missing? I don’t want to take meds or tums, etc, cuz I’m pregnant & I don’t like taking any type of meds while pregnant. So, what else can I try to get this burning in my neck to go away?

I am a 19 year old female who was recently diagnosed with Gerd and went on a months worth of Zegerid and was fine and went off the meds as per the doctors request. About two months after this I had a severe GERD attack, but began taking the zegerid again only to find a week later I was only getting worse. I am now at the point where my throat feels like there is something in it all the time and I have shortness of breath plus my throat is extremely raw and painful. I still take the zegerid, but I cannot swallow food. I have eaten very little this past week and am on an all liquid diet. My doctor insists I can indeed swallow food because there is nothing really blocking my esophagus. I am going for an endoscopy on monday but I dont know what else that will do…has anyone ever experienced anything like this?? Will I EVER be able to eat again??
It has been about 6 days since I have been able to eat an actual meal. Should I force myself to swallow solids?

Okay so I am 13 weeks, and I live with my In-Laws while my husband is in Iraq (thought I’d save money rather then get an apartment). But yeah we go out to eat a lot, and they usually want Mexican food (they are Mexican), and it gives me heartburn. I really don’t like mexican food, I am Puerto Rican and I prefer our food because it isn’t spicy. Well anyways before I got preggo I sucked it up and ate it because I didn’t want to be rude. Plus I didn’t get heartburn from it at the time. But now everytime we eat it I am suffering all night with heartburn and acid reflux, it is too spicy for me. What should I do? I don’t want to offend them and not attend dinner with them. And I also don’t want to continue eating food that upsets me, or keep them from eating what they like. Help please?

Help! I have acid reflux really bad and I can’t seem to eat anything this morning. Every bite of food I swallow hurts me so bad! I am taking Prilosec OTC (first day of taking it) and other antiacids. But I can’t lay down and I can’t eat anything.

I’m 20, when i was 16 i was told i had acid reflux disease. So I am figuring that could be the cause. However, I used to be able to eat tons of spicy food without getting sick at all.

I want to make sure he gets fruits and veges etc, but don’t want to make his reflux worse. some additional info- his current pediatriction was kind of dismissive when I told him I thought he had reflux– “all babies spit up, blah blah blah”– I’m moving go a new city in 2 weeks and will be looking for a new dr there.. in the meantime, I’m looking for advice on what foods to give him that will ease his stomach, but still help him progress to new levels of food. (i have some reflux, and my husband has very severe reflux and has to see a dr regularly @ it, so, yes, I’m pretty confident that is what his problem is.) appreciate any great food ideas. thanx!

I seem to get heartburn after eating bread products. Is there a natural way to reduce it? I don’t like taking antacids beacuse they seem to do more harm then help.
Thanks for your help

When I eat spicy foods I pay in a big way, is there a way to tell if I have acid reflux disease?
