My daughter has a very bad case of acid reflux and I’m trying to find her the very best doctor, no matter where he or she is. She throws up after every single feed and shes very fussy. None of the medicines or milks that they have given her is working. We are in the doctor every week because her case is so bad, and no one is doing a thing. We’ve seen 1 GI Specialist and all he did was change her milk and told me to call him if it doesn’t work. Of course it doesn’t work and now I can’t even get in touch with him. I’ve been trying for a week now and I’m tired. She’s been going through this since birth and she’s now 2 months old. I can’t stand for another month to go by and I have to see my child in so much agony and pain. So if anyone out there can help me please do so because I really need it right now. Thanks!

This doesn’t happen everyday but sometimes my almost 14 month old son will drink 1 whole (7 oz) sippy cup of whole milk and then eat his whole dinner and almost immediately afterwards he will vomit up almost everything he ate. He eats well and is not sick….could this be acid reflux or more likely is it a milk allergy/lactose intolerance? Could it just be I am feeding him too much? He is gaining weight appropriately as he should be and he only seems to vomit after drinking milk (and almost always if he drinks a lot of it). He doesn’t do this after every meal but he has done it 2 or 3 times this week. In your opinion does this sound like reflux??? Or rather a milk allergy/lactose intolerance? Someone please help. It is quite scary seeing your child forceful vomit all over the kitchen floor. And it is not just a little bit, it’s a lot and usually contains whole pieces of whatever he has eaten…peas, corn, pasta shells, etc.

My Girlfriend has missed a lot of time from work and is not able to hold a job for long for nausea and vomiting. We have been to a gastro-intestinal specialist, family practice doctors and specialist to find out the source of why she is vomiting and they do not know a cause. She was diagnose with pancreatitis which is a inflammation of the pancreas that causes violent vomiting and nausea but then another doctors say that she does not have pancreatitis. We thought it was Gaul stones, acid reflux but they said that was not it. In other words she still suffering for vomiting and throwing up and the one drug that does work with stopping it makes her extremely drowsy and tire. She needs to apply for Social Security Disability and I know they give an option to file on line but how can we find a doctor that will take the time to help her with getting the right paper work to get approved She has one minor child that she may be able to get benefits for under her own claim. Any good suggestions?

Ok, i have had acid reflux all my life. 2 abdominal cat scans and 2 upper G.I.s ( the first when i was 2 days old and the other when I was 9 ). I believe that my pediatrician is not giving me enough treatment. I am on 30 mg. of prevacid ( antacid ) and pepcid 12 hour complete . I believe that a phmotility study or a pH Probe study or possibly a Impedance study could do me well
Allergic to :
Wheat
Eggs
Milk
Shouldn’t have ( but not allergic ) :
Carbonation
acidic items
Set My stomach off:
sugar
processed food
I have tested negative for celiac disease but that was almost seven years ago
I have episodes of heart burn AT LEAST twice a day and baby barfs about once or twice a day
I have a constant dull pain in my upper central stomach

Why did you suspect a milk intolerance and what were the symptoms? If you were breastfeeding, how long after you removed milk from your diet did you see improvement in your baby?
I am trying to rule out a milk intolerance in my almost 4 month old who was diagnosed with moderate acid reflux based only on the symptoms I described to the pediatrician, which seem to just keep getting worse: very irritable, cries alot, seems uncomfortable alot, hardly naps during day, very restless and not much sleep at night, frequent short coughing spells, doesn’t spit up much, gassy, eats frequently.
She put him on Mylanta up to 6 times a day, Zantac if it gets worse, and told me to start solids at 4 months. Since starting the Mylanta 3 days ago, his symptoms have become obviously more severe, so we discontinued that. I have also had him on probiotics (not at the advice of dr.).

My very active and very healthy 2 1/2 year old nephew has been going through episodes where he will be perfectly fine and suddenly wake up vomitting. The next day he is always fine and right back to normal. This has happend 4 or 5 times over the last 2 months. Once he starts vomitting he can not even keep water down, or ice chips or anything. The pediatrician kept saying it was just the flu. It is never accompanied with any fever or any other symptoms just vomitting. The last visit to the dr they said that he had acid reflux, well i have acid reflux myself and its never made me vomit. He also frequently complains that his butt hurts, when checked no diaper rash, no bruses, no redness, nothing is there. The dr also told her that he isnt gaining enough weight, well duh. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas of what my sister should have them check. Her poor little boy is miserable.

My son recently got perscribed Zantac. They just said he has “acid reflux.” Hes been on it for two weeks now. He is under the 3rd percentile. and can still fit in 3 month clothing. How long did it take ur child to gain some weight from it? I think something else is wrong. He still spits up the same amount and is still around the same weight. Hes 10 months and 16lbs.

My son is 11yrs old. He has been have chest pains for the last 4 months. I have taken him to John’s Hopkins Hospital which specializes in children. They have put him on medication for acid reflux. He is still having the pains and they seem to be when he is upset. He has been through a lot of drama in his life that I am trying to get him away from. He has seen a lot for an 11yr old. I am a single mom and I don’t like children on medicine all the time. What can I do for him? It hurts me to see him in pain but I don’t know what else to do.
