Do you know some home remedies against “Acid Reflux” (or “Heart-Burn”)?

My mother was suddenly afflicted by acid reflux 4 days ago. Now, she gets it every night before sleeping. That’s why I’m looking for some natural cures. If you people know of any, could you share some? Thanks for your time. God bless.

eat a pickle, or drink some pickle juice, works everytime for me.
Try baking soda.
Drinking Milk is a classic.
Check out the book by Kevin Trudeau called “Natural Cures”. He said to take couple of spoons of Apple Cidar Vinegar. But check out the book and see exactly what he said. It’s a pretty good book.
papya enzeymes can be bought at walmart in vitiamen section, but please be advised with suddenon set of gurd your mom may need a doctor.
Papaya extract- from most any store that sells supplements- it’s all natural, tastes nice and helps a LOT. It is water soluble so you can’t over do it. Ginger Ale, baking soda & water is also good-
If you can get her to a doctor- I recommend Nexium. Mine got so bad I couldn’t swallow- Nexium saved my life. Also, try sleeping propped up- the lower she lays, the worse it gets. Good luck. God bless you both.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR !
take 1-2 tablespoons. Your stomach will feel a little upset the moments after you drink it. (esp if its your first time!) follow with a little milk or juice.
It taste horrible but its health benefits are imeasureable. Its helps burn fat, break down food in your stomach, headaches….and so on. look it up on google.

You would need something to counter the acid in her stomach. Drinking apple cider vinegar is good, but tastes horrible. Drinking milk also helps since it is also a base and doesn’t taste nearly as bad.
She may also need to change her diet to help control the issue.
My grandmother used to drink some luke warm water with a teaspoon of baking soda in it. This was deamed unsafe though a few years ago when a woman died from it because she ate a bunch of it without mixing it in water.
I also have terrible reflux and alcers. I make sure that I don’t eat less than 2 hours before I go to bed. I also eat yogurt on a regular basis- this helps a lot, even if it is already irritated. Some people drink milk, but for others it makes it worse. When I was pregnant, it was TERRIBLE! The only thing that helped was soda crackers, skim milk, and believe it or not, large Jet Puff marshmallows. I heard it on a health show once that the good brands of large marshmallows have a natural ingredient in them that is a natural stomach aid. Sounds nuts, I know, but it really worked. Of coarse by the time I was done being preg. I looked like one of the marshmallows! Staying away from too much soda, caffiene, chocolate, and a few other foods help too. Mine gets really irritated if I eat too much meat. My dad swears by hot peppers, but I have never tried it. There is a ton of this kind of info on the internet. Good luck!!
I feel sorry for your mum . I have A R and its a complete pain . there are some things your mum can do , one is don,t eat food cooked in any oils or anything fried , just try very plain dried foods , no cheese or chocolate (agony !!!!!!), try sleeping slightly upright then the acid won,t be able to come up and another thing , obviously i don.t know your mum , but my doctor recommended weightloss (please no offence ) also tell your mum to not bend over at the waist as that can cause the acid to rise up in to the gullet , I hope this helps a litte and tell your mum i,m thinking of her
My mother in law takes Bentonite Clay (Great Plains) about a tablespoon in the morning she buys it at Whole Foods.
She used to have acid reflux but she says that this
has really helped her. If this doesn’t work try finding Gary Null

Take a glass of water, mix in some bakeing soda (about 3 spoon fulls) Drink the cup of water quickley. This will give you the burps but works great at beating heartburn!

I don’t know if this will work for her but I knwo of several people having tried 1 teaspoon of pure white vineager followed by a glass of water about 20 minutes later. She needs to put a little bit of a “Kick” into the enzymes to loosen up the acids and getting it moving out————
Have her drink green tea before bed. You can buy decaf. It helps aid in digestion. That is why it helps people loose weight. It has helped me for years. Lipton honey lemon decaf is my favorite! Good Luck!

Don’t take milk, or baking soda, or tums, or nexium. Bad. Taking pickle juice, vinegar (especially raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar), good. The acid reflux is like the canary to the minor. It is a early warning system. Thing to realize is that the whole digestive system is in trouble here. When you drink tap water with chlorine you kill off many bacteria meant to be in the system. You need to add probiotics (and preferably, stop using tap water) – you can use yogurt with live cultures, kefir or pills. And the papaya is for the enzymes – we need enzymes for proper digestion. Raw fruits and vegetables contain enzymes. Eat more of em. Start eating and drinking healthy and your digestive problems will go away. If you go for the instant “cure” – the Nexium etc. you will patch the problem but eventually it will pop back up as cancer, diabetes, etc.
I have used milk in the past and has worked for me, you should give it a try.
At our chiropractic office we had a 6 month old baby that had acid reflux so bad that his family doctor want to do surgery. His parents brought him to the office and he now has no regular problems with acid reflux. He does not even spit up weekly. Heartburn can be cause by a misalignment in the spine. Find a chiropractor that graduated from Palmer and go to them.
