Help pls! is soy formula best for toddler with reflux problem?
My toddler is 16 months old. Since she was 6 months old i unknowingly overfed my baby. So almost every night she would projectile vomit after she woke up from crying. I seriously had no idea i was doing this. Because during the same time she had gotten sick.. so i just thought that was the reason she threw up so much. However 2 weeks later the sickness went away and the vomitting still occured for another month. What an awful mother i was to not realize what i was doing. til this day i dont forgive myself.
Since she was 6 months old. she started vomitting very easily. like if she cried too long or too hard. or if she ate something and it got stuck in her mouth.. and every single time she got sick she vomit terribly.
would this mean that she had a reflux problem??
since she was a newborn she has been drinking Similac Advance.. and now she drinks Similac go & grow for toddlers because more than a few bottles of red milk causes her to get awfully constipated.
Since she has been drinkin Similac Advance from newborn to 6 months just fine it cant be the formula right??? or could it be??
I’ve asked my dr about the throwing up and she said its normal for babies to vomit when they are sick.
Also i was wanted to know if i should switch my baby to SOY formula from similac. and if so which type of soy… Now she only projectile vomits if she is sick. which she is often. like once a month. or if she gets food stuck in her mouth while eating.. and theres been a few times when she has thrown up after drinking because she runs and plays.
My niece who is 6 months younger than my 16 month old has never projectile vomit. even when shes sick she doesnt even throw up.. even when she chokes on her food she doesnt spit up. So i always wondered if that overfeeding her at 6 months has caused my child to have acid reflux.. well if thats whats it called.
my daughter doesnt eat a lot either. she eats but i dont think she eats enough because after meal time she ask for mum mum. and she wont eat any fruits or veggies except mandorin oranges.
I seriously think i fail as a parent.
Any tips or advice would be great,

Yes
Oatmeal is good too.
And don’t feel too bad about this! Remember that to have a confident and happy child, you have to do your best to be relaxed and confident that you will get help and your toddler, she will be fine after a visit to the doctors. You can ask your family doctor if there is any medication to help her.
I understand you overfed your baby. But can you believe i underfed my baby for one whole year and didn’t even realise it? She is my first baby and i had no idea how much babies would eat. I was horribly underfeeding her thinking how much can a baby eat? Until one day, i saw a neighbor feed her baby my daughter’s age.. Imagine.. what a shock!! No wonder my baby was severely underweight for over 2 years..
Now she is normal.. Though underweight, she is mostly healthy.. I have never confessed this to anyone.. I only told you because i didn’t want you think you are alone..
I feel so guilt till this day after 4 years and i am sure i will feel guilty till my last day..
But i want you know that dont let guilty feeling overwhelm you.. Please understand that guilty feeling is much a routine for moms just like happiness, proudness ,frustrations and what not..
Please be glad you found within one month and not after one year (or better than not to find at all)..
Coming to your question, I dont think your overfeeding led to anything.. Your baby sounds like she is allergic to lactose milk.. Vomiting can start anytime in the first couple of years. She should mostly outgrow it by 3 years.
Soy milk are also not safe options as feeding soy milk everytime is not recommended by some specialists.
For you, the best option would be almond milk (milk made exclusively from almond and lactose-free)
Go to any organic store and you can find flavored almond milk
