How can I drink alcohol when I have acid reflux without getting sick?
I’ve had acid reflux since I was 9. I am now 17 and I occasionally drink 5 or 6 beers at a party usually once or twice a month. I understand I shouldn’t be drinking because I’m too young and because I have acid reflux but I would like to be able to party with my friends once a month. Drinking alcohol once a month won’t kill me. I’ve tried taking a zantac before it helps a little bit but not enough. I heard a mixture of baking soda and water before drinking could help but I haven’t tried it. If anyone has any ideas please help. I don’t feel the NEED to drink I just enjoy drinking and hanging out with friends but my acid reflux usually stops me. I usually have to either go puke or I feel like crap the whole night. (If you’re going to tell me to not drink without offering any advice don’t even bother posting.)
I’ve gotten crazy drunk before off of vodka as well and I have much less heartburn from mixed drinks. I can’t be allergic to beer because I’ve easily drank 7-8 beers in a night without getting sick. Typically though I’ll drink 2 beers, feel a lot of heartburn and puke.

My question to you is WHY do you have acid reflux? The desire to drink is another matter altogether.
Acid reflux is a gastronomic problem that will NOT be cured by any of the pills they suggest. It can be masked only. And if you depend on the pills from the drug store, you will even worsen the condition.
Why not go to a Health Food store and ask the person at the supplements/therapy dept if there is some way to fix your GUT and make sure that you produce the right kinds of chemicals in your digestive system?
If you are the typical teen, then you are eating fatty fried foods which CAUSE acid reflux to get worse. Your best bet is to eat raw and freshly cooked veggies and fruits as much as possible. Like daily. And cut out the junk sugary and fried foods.
SERIOUSLY. If you want to live well and long, your health now as a young adult is of great importance. Do yourself a favor – eat better and rid yourself of this acidity problem.

Votka is a bit better than beer for me as well, add water and a mixture like cranberry juice or sth on it and enjoy. Adding water is crucial for an acid reflux releif… You are young and I wish there was a better way to have fun with out having any acid reflux symptoms, but hey, you are not alone, make the best of it…
You should totally talk to a doctor about the Acid Reflux.
That said, you need to drink a lot of water during and after drinking alcohol. The rule of thumb is two glasses of water for every alcohol drink.
