How long do acid reflux symptoms last?
Lately I had a mild case of acid reflux. After a few days I was put on some medicine (Rezhest and aciphex, apologies if I spelled one of the names wrong) and I am feeling better. My symptoms *were* chest pain, feeling like I need to vomit, and some other symptoms. Most of these symptoms went away except the very very mild chest pain which seems to come and go every now and then, and a very mild soar throat. How long will the soar throat and chest pain last? My doctor says about a few weeks for the throat, but I forgot to ask them about the chest pain.
Sorry forgot to add some stuff.
I am 16, and I only started having this chest pain when I got acid reflux, it’s only been about 3-4 days now with the mild chest pain.

Ryan – Acid reflux results when some of the very acidic stomach digestive juices move back up into the lower end of the esophagus and damage the surface of the esophagus. Some medicines can reduce the amount of acid the stomach secretes. At your age of 16, try taking smaller volumes of food at one time to reduce chances of back up of stomach contents. Avoid lying down after a meal to reduce back-up of stomach contents. In some people, the normal diaphragm muscle, which normally squeezes shut the top of the stomach, fails to contract, thus allowing backflow of acid juices. This is known as a hiatus hernia and may involve or require minor surgery with a couple of stitches to correct the hiatus hernia. This is uncommon at your young age but common in many older adults. Healing may take a couple of weeks after the reflux stops.

Acid reflux can be cured in the majority of people with more digestive enzymes in the diet. Digestive enzymes in the diet are only found in raw foods. Purchasing digestive enzyme supplements is another way to increase digestive enzymes in the diet. Chewing more throughly helps with the digestive process. Apple cider vinegar with “mother” (which contains enzymes) is an old proven remedy used for hundreds of years for heartburn and acid reflux. If it is H Pylori bacteria, then antibiotics are needed to kill this off. If you have a hiatus hernia, chiropractic treatment has been proven effective treatment and much preferable to surgery.
