Pepcid is great – try 20 mg. daily
there is a book with home remedys tridau
Try pomegranate peels soaked in water , drink the water .
Other modifications :
1. Lose weight ( a big tummy presses the stomach and pushes the fluid up the gullet )
2. Avoid alcohol ,coffee , tea , onions , chili , Pepsi , cigarettes , chocolate and sedative drugs in general .
3. Do not wear tight-fitting clothes , especially on the upper body , and avoid tight belts .
4. Only eat until hunger stops , DO NOT STUFF yourself .
5. Do not lie down after meals , allow at LEAST 2 hours for food to pass out of the stomach , in the meantime sit upright or walk .
6. Eat frequent but SMALL meals , rather than 3 LARGE meals , also eat very little at night before sleep time .
7. For quick relief , drink milk .
you might want to go to a local drug store and ask what is the best kind to take there really is no cure for it because when you eat something that causes that so maybe you should watch out for what you ate like perhaps something spicy or like something with tomatoes or slasa of some type
its important with this condition that you do attend the doctors, acid reflux can increase your risk of oesophageal cancer, ulcers and tearing. the doctors can give you medicine that will control acid production in the stomach and thus reduce the frequency of reflux. Its also important to see the dentist as acid reflux can cause erosion of the enamel on the teeth and lead to dental caries (infection) and pain.
zantac75 worked well for me
My doctor had me use zantac. 175 mg. which you can buy over the counter, it took about a week to work because mine had started messing up my throat. But it worked and now I don’t have a problem with it.
how long did you take the Prilosec? That medication usually takes a few days to offer some relief. Stay away from coffee and acidic foods. Elevate you bed so the acid does not come upwards while laying down. You should consider seeing your doctor for a proper diagnosis and a better drug for you. Hope this helps…
Incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter allows reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus, causing burning pain. Prolonged reflux may lead to esophagitis, stricture, and rarely metaplasia. Diagnosis is clinical, sometimes with endoscopy, with or without acid testing. Treatment involves lifestyle modification, acid suppression using proton pump inhibitors, and sometimes surgery.
Certain foods and lifestyle are considered to promote gastroesophageal reflux:
* Coffee, alcohol, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements are stimulants of gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can promote evening reflux. Calcium containing antacids are in this group.
* Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these tends to help, as well. Fat also delays emptying of the stomach.
* Having more but smaller meals also reduces the risk of GERD, as it means there is less food in the stomach at any one time.
* avoid eating for 2 hours before bedtime
* avoid soft drinks
* avoid chocolate and peppermint
* avoid spicy foods
* avoid acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes (however, they are okay when fresh.)
* avoid cruciferous vegetables: onions, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, brussel sprouts
* milk and milk-based products contain calcium and fat, so should be avoided before bedtime

cut out soft drinks and drink more water
V-8 is good also drink cranberry juice
eat more green veggies and cut out fast food one more thing
dont eat anything or drink anything other than water after 4 pm everyday till it goes away
if you feel hungry drink water
avoid alcohol.
Prilosec OTC is not a theraputic dose (meaning a dose that will cure you).
Acid relux disease can erode your esophagus so badly you end up with scar tissue or strictures that make it hard to swallow.
There are some things you can do to help- but the only real treatment is prescription medication. And you need to see a doctor.
