Is there any way I can cure my acid reflux?

I’m only 14, and I got a little acid reflux because I drank too much soda last year. Thanks, 10 points to the best answer.

You really should get checked out by a Dr.
Acid reflux can be caused by a lot of foods that you might find hard to give up at 14. But, if you just be really careful for a couple of weeks, it will help your body heal and you may be able to go back to eating SOME of the bad stuff.
Okay, ready? Nothing spicy: no pepper, no hot sauce, no salsa, NO raw onions – those tear me up.
Nothing sour – there’s lots of acid in sodas. No tea or coffee.
Believe it or not – FAT. Cut down on the fatty, fried foods.
Try to eat BLAND for awhile.
Best wishes
Jane
Over the counter medicine that works for most people is
“Omeprazole” same medication the Dr will proscribe….
See your doctor anyway….
Drinking a little soda from last year would not cause or bring on acid reflux. Are you sure that is what you have? Most times our diet is what brings on these things.
If there is a food you eat (eg pizza) that brings it on…dont eat pizza! Fatty and fried foods, spicy foods, acidy foods (tomato sauce) can cause heartburn and worsen acid reflux.
Try this. If after you eat and you get acid reflux, try a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. You can chase it down with water. If that makes you better then it could be that you dont have enough acid to properly digest your food.
For me a couple of TUMS settles’s any heartburn nicely too, and they are cheap in comparison to other meds.
When you start getting into meds like ZANTAC, these are actually presciption meds (or were once upon a time!!) and you have to be careful. What they do is reduce the acid your stomache produces to digest the food. They will reduce the acid and keep it at a reduced level throughout the day. For people with excessive acid this will help for sure, but I tend to believe it’s balanced diet.
I find it ridiculous that people expect a pill to allow them to eat whatever they want whenever they want.
The body wasn’t made for certain foods and no pill will magically alter that….not without consequences in the long haul anyhow.
The best quick fix is drinking lots of water. Taking zantac (over the counter) once a day or as needed helps a ton and if that doesn’t help see if you can get a prescription for nexium, prevacid or protonix. I’m only 16 and have had acid reflux for four years. It’s not just the acid in soda it’s also the carbonation so be careful drinking seltzer as well.
