You can go to your herbal health food store and buy peppermint tea. You can either make it iced or hot. This has helped for me bc it helps settle and sooth my stomach. I hope this helps. Good luck and God bless.

Does anyone have acid reflux?

My mom is 45 yrs old, healthy, does not smoke, is not over weight or under weight. She has had problems with acid reflux for about a year now. lately she has been having dizzy spells, shortness of breath and a very sore tight chest. It seems to be getting worse every day. She says it hurts to talk, hurts to breathe, feels dizzy, and her chest hurts in general. She has gone to Emerg several times and they just tell her its due to her acid reflux and send her home. She is on medication for acid reflux, but it hasnt been doing anything to help her. she does not eat spicy foods, or acidic foods, everything is bland and nothing is helping. Could she possibly have something other than acid reflux? the doctors (family doctor, clinics, and ER) all just seem to be dismissing her and blaming it on her acid reflux. Any opinions? experiences? anyone with acid reflux have this as well?

does anyone know the best cure for acid reflux, and do you also suffer from panic like symptoms from it?

I have had acid reflux for 2 years now. My doctors have had a hard time finding medication to help me. I currently am on Nexium. I still feel sick all the time no matter what I eat. I am not pregnant. I just can’t eat without feeling bad. Any suggestions?

I was hospitalized in June, I was feeling tightness in my chest and burning as well. I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux and I was wondering if anyone ever had it and what did you take to help. I’m particularly interested in natural alternatives.

Can’t eat due to GERD/Acid Reflux…Has this happened to anyone before/ was it resolved?

I am a 19 year old female who was recently diagnosed with Gerd and went on a months worth of Zegerid and was fine and went off the meds as per the doctors request. About two months after this I had a severe GERD attack, but began taking the zegerid again only to find a week later I was only getting worse. I am now at the point where my throat feels like there is something in it all the time and I have shortness of breath plus my throat is extremely raw and painful. I still take the zegerid, but I cannot swallow food. I have eaten very little this past week and am on an all liquid diet. My doctor insists I can indeed swallow food because there is nothing really blocking my esophagus. I am going for an endoscopy on monday but I dont know what else that will do…has anyone ever experienced anything like this?? Will I EVER be able to eat again??
It has been about 6 days since I have been able to eat an actual meal. Should I force myself to swallow solids?

Has anyone suffering from acid reflux/GERD found a way to relieve the symptoms?

Nexium and other meds have started to lose effectiveness, and the doctors seem to be out of options

Has anyone tried nexium or equivant medication with alcohol to decrease hangovers or excess of alcohol???

I work in a cardiology office as a RN, and one of the nexium pharmaceutical reps told me that nexium, or equivants such as protonix, prilosec or prilosec OTC, or aciphex (proton pump inhibitor based drugs used for heart burn or acid reflux disease, can decrease hangovers in the am, when taken the night before and in the am when waking up. I discovered that nexium or eqivalent works even to decrease the negative side effects of alcohol with one drink too many. Has anyone ever noted this before and if so, how does it work??? Would love to hear from people if this has worked for them and better if they know why. Prilosec OTC worked for me in the past as well, and without prescription.

I HAVE HEARD IT ALL FROM ALLERGIES TO ASTHMA AND FROM ACID REFLUX TO HERNIA. WHAT EVER THE DIAGNOSIS I’M STILL FEELING ILL.
THIS IS THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE COME TO UNDERSTAND OVER TIME: I SPIT A LOT AND IT’S NOT REGULAR SALIVA FROM MY MOUTH, IT’S THICK SALIVA OR ACID(?) FROM MY STOMACH, SO FAR I CAN DEAL WITH THIS. THE RARE PROBLEM ABOUT THIS IS THAT NOT ALL THINGS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BAD FOR ACID REFLUX SUFFERERS ARE BAD FOR ME. I HAVE NOTICE THAT I CAN DRINK PURE ORANGE JUICE WITH HARDLY ANY SPITTING SAME AS HOME MADE SALSA OR REGULAR TOMMATOES WHICH I DID NOT EAT FOR A LONG TIME THINKING THEY WERE BAD. INSTEAD SUGAR IN DRINKS MAKES ME SPIT RIGHT AWAY. AND IF IT’S CARBONATED IS EVEN WORSE. ANOTHER THING IS REGULAR DISTILLED VINEGAR IT MAKES ME SPIT TOO. WHEN I’M SPITTING IT USUALLY LASTS FOR 20 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. THE WORST IS IN THE MORNING AFTER A DINNER THAT WAS NOT GOOD FOR MY STOMACH. ALSO FRIED FOODS MAKE ME SPIT. NOW, MOST PEOPLE THINK IT’S JUST TOO MUCH ACID BUT ANTIACIDS DON’T WORK I’VE TRIED THEM ALL FROM NEXIUM TO PRILOSEC YOU NAME IT. WHAT THEY DO THEY MAKE MY STOMACH REALLY TIGHT THAT I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. THIS IS THE OTHER PROBLEM WHEN EVERYBODY TELLS ME IT’S THE ACID REFLUX THEN I GO INTO EXTREME DIET THINKING IT WOULD GO AWAY. THE SPITTING STOPS FOR A WHILE BUT IF I EAT OR DRINK SOMETHING SWEET IT COMES BACK. AND I START ALL OVER AGAIN. OTHER TIMES I’M TAKING ANTIACIDS AT NIGHT AND IN THE MORNING I CAN HARDLY BREATH FROM A LOT OF PRESURE IN MY STOMACH. I THINK MY PROBLEM LIES WITHIN TWO THINGS A PART OF MY BODY THAT REJECTS SUGAR OR FRUCTOSE AND PERHAPS A LACK OF SUFFICIENT LEVELS OF STOMACH ACID, CONTRARY TO TOO MUCH ACID, AS MOST DOCTORS HAVE SUGGESTED. IT’S NOT EVEN THE H-PILLORI BACTERIA. ANYONE OUTHERE WHO COULD HELP, PEASE I’M DESPERATE AND TIRED OF DOCTORS GUESSING ON MY CONDITION AND GETTING IT WRONG.

I know its possible that some people have nausea as a more prevalent symptom for their acid reflux than heartburn.
and im nauseous a lot with no explanation, and i do have stomach issues, heartburn several times a month, but more nausea.

so do any of u have nausea as there main acid reflux symptom?

I am 20 weeks pregnant, and I have acid reflux (before pregnancy) the medication that I took, I cannot take while pregnant. I have been using tums, but everything I eat causes it, and at times it gets so bad the tums have no affect. Any suggestions?

Did it make you nauseous?

I read it’s one of the more common side effects, but I’ve never experienced side effects from medicine before. Nausea is my main acid reflux symptom, not heartburn, so I can’t tell if the medicine is working or not.

Anyone suffered with Acid-Reflux &/or Oesophagitis?

For the last few years, I’ve experienced the occasional sensation of feeling like something’s in my throat or difficulty swallowing. It’s increased over the last couple of years (occurring more often or feeling worse) but never to the point where it’s disrupted daily activities or anything like that. However, it seems to have taken a turn for the worse over the last few months, and specifically the last few weeks. I feel sick after eating just about anything (I can’t identify a trigger food(s)), but my stomach isn’t the problem–it’s a feeling in my throat/chest. If I have any pain, it’s either in my chest or in the V-shaped area directly below my sternum, between my rib cage and stomach. There’s an almost constant feeling of something being in my throat, sometimes just annoying (as it’s been on and off for several years) and sometimes to the point where it feels like I’m about to vomit. There’s been a couple of instances where it felt like vomit was actually rising back through my esophagus, even though my stomach was just fine (even hungry) and there were no other symptoms–I was just fine and all of a sudden had the sensation of throwing up. It’s now an everyday thing–every time I eat and sometimes when I don’t–so it’s really disrupting ordinary life. I’m a 3rd grade teacher, and this isn’t conducive to standing up and teaching all day (including after lunch). I’m only 22 and have always been healthy; I would like to be able to go out, date, etc. like a normal 22 year old and I can’t because I constantly feel sick (but not like when I was young and had a virus or something) or I’m afraid that I will feel that way, especially if I eat something. I’ve tried Tums, Ranitidine (in an Equate brand acid reducer), Gas-X with Maalox, Pepto-Bismol (which helped nausea but nothing else), and Rolaids and have had no luck. I’m trying Prevacid (the 14-day treatment) starting tomorrow–has anyone had any success with that? I don’t know what else this could be; I’ve looked up the symptoms of GERD and they are basically an exact replica of what I feel. I don’t smoke, I’m not overweight (if anything, I’m almost underweight–but it’s a normal weight for me), I eat a good variety of food, there’s no possibility of pregnancy–all of the risk factors they list. I’m thinking that I need to go to the doctor (and plan to), but in the meantime, does anyone have any experience with this? What helped? Do my symptoms sound like GERD or acid reflux to you? Any help is greatly appreciated–I just want to feel normal again.

I ask this simply due to the fact that I don’t have the money for prilosec-otc or other otc’s. My first doctor appointment (I just moved to area) is at the end of the week. Even if my doctor prescribes me meds, I may not be able to afford the co-pay due to a limited income. Any help in this arena will be helpful.
