Stopping Acid Reflux – Diet Changes Could Be The Answer

Article by Andrew McNaught

An unpleasant burning sensation rising from your stomach, through your chest to your throat. This is the heartburn feeling that people with acid reflux often experience. It is caused by acid backwashing from the stomach and breaking the barrier between the stomach and the esophagus. If this condition persists the sufferer may find that their esophagus becomes scarred and can result in equally unpleasant choking feelings occurring.

As with a large number of medical conditions and diseases, modifying one’s diet can be the best way to treat acid reflux. Eating the correct acid reflux diet is often preferable to the kinds of treatments that are required when the condition becomes more severe such as surgery or taking prescribed medication.

Acid reflux, gastrointestinal problems, and a nagging pain in my chest that has lasted for 4 years. A couple of weeks ago I switched to Diet Dr. Pepper and I am feeling so much better. What could be the difference?

It seems that when I have acid pressure my right tonsils got a feeling of tension in it.

Prescriptions such as Prevacid, Nexium, and Prilosec.

If not treated, severe acid reflux can result in some very serious problems. This is why managing acid reflux disease is so important. Here we look at some conditions that can be a result of severe acid reflux and also some suggestions for managing acid reflux disease. Severe acid reflux can lead to esophagitis. The esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. Muscles in the lower esophagus normally prevent stomach acid from coming back up into the esophagus, but when a person suffers from mild, moderate or severe acid reflux, the muscles do not stop the acid from entering the esophagus and this stomach acid can cause pain and inflammation of the esophagus, which is caused esophagitis. Managing acid reflux disease is all about preventing acid from leaking back up into the esophagus. Sometimes, when severe acid reflux damages the lining of the esophagus, scarring and narrowing of the esophagus occurs. This scarring and narrowing is called strictures and can prevent food and liquids from reaching the stomach. Since strictures affect the ability to eat and drink, it must be treated by stretching and enlarging the esophagus to prevent other health problems that can arise from a lack of proper nutrition. Managing acid reflux disease, before it becomes severe can prevent damage to the esophagus, thus preventing strictures from forming. In cases where severe acid reflux results in esophagitis, esophageal bleeding or ulcers may occur. A condition called

To start off with, I have been having strange symptoms that worsen with stress/depression, but are nonetheless symptoms I have rarely or never felt before. They started around last June, when I was put on Yaz birth control to regulate my periods (which were constant and never seemed to stop). I started to get panic attacks, and decided around October/November to stop taking the pill in case that was the cause. The panic attacks went away, but I began to get a feeling in my throat called “globus hystericus” (basically, my throat will either feel incredibly swollen or like there is something stuck inside, nothing cures it-neither sleep, nor diet, nor excersise-but there is NO pain). That feeling went away for a little bit but then returned around December/January, and then was replaced by horrible acid reflux/feelings of nausea/upset stomach. My doctor put me on Prevacid for that, which seemed to cure it, until now, when all those symptoms began randomly coming back (especially the swollen throat feeling). I’ve gone back to having irregular menstrual cycles that usually consist of prolonged spotting, and I constantly have discharge. Sometimes when I eat, I feel like my stomach has trouble digesting and I just overall feel weird, like my stomach is “clogged” or something, although there is usually no pain and I am constantly needing to use the restroom (if I wait even five minutes too long, I feel overall sick inside). I also have trouble with tiredness/lack of concentration/mood swings, although I think I’ve always been sort of like that, to an extent. My roommate has been telling me about Candida overgrowth, and I have a feeling that may be a cause of my symptoms, although I don’t know for sure because I don’t really know whether the extent to which I feel this way is legit or psychological. I have been trying out the diet for around three days now, but I’m very small and I fear the “die off” symptoms may actually mean more harm than good for me, especially since I’m not sure if I really have it or not, although I incredibly suspect that I do. As far as antibiotics go, I usually get a sinus infection at least twice a year, and have always been put on antibiotics for 1-2 weeks to cure it (it’s always worked). Last fall/winter, I unusually had three within only a few months and went on antibiotics as nothing else cured it. I really don’t trust doctors and I am a college student with limited resources, as far as seeing a natural doctor/being on meds goes. Can somebody please give me a little help? Thanks!

Could Acid Reflux be causing this problem?

I’m a 17 year old male, my voice used to crack a lot last year but now it just stopped and my voice is still the same. Sometimes in the morning i wake up with a deep voice but it changes back to my normal voice throughout the day. Could acid reflux have burned my “voice box” and doesn’t let my voice change?
