Question by : Why do people keep saying acid reflux causes “heart”burn? I feel the burn just two inches above my navel.?
I keep hearing people say that “acid reflux causes a burning sensation in the esophagus” but I feel the “burn” two inches above my belly button, about an inch and a half above my belly button. So how come whenever I go to a website about acid reflux (which I have been diagnosed with after an endoscopy), I see pictures of people frowning in pain while putting their hand over their heart, or near the middle of their rib cage?
I was diagnosed with acid reflux, so shouldn’t I feel be burn in my esophagus and not in the pit of my belly where I believe my stomach is?

I am 26. I have had 3 children within 4 years. I was fine throught most of them for the most part. During my second pregnancy, I started developing headaches on a daily basis. Worse when I wake up….pop some Excedrin….they come back around at about 6pm. After child 3, I had to get my gall bladder taken, I have colon polyps, and I have Acid Reflux. It sucks. My digestion is wishy washy. Some days I can eat carrots. Somedays they tear me up. Also after #3, I had a tubal done. My periods are heavy and I cramp and bloat. They last for 8-10 days. Only recently…I have spotting in between and they seem to come more often than 1 time a month I have a discharge that is more frequent…normal but excessive. All tests are negative. I am constantly gassy. I sweat more. I still get headaches daily. On the other hand….my emotions seem to dry. I don’t cry often. I am more passive. Am I turning into a man. I am still lactating very little out of one breast. Hmmmmmmmm?

everyday for about 4 years I have felt high, but I’ve had no drugs or alcohol. In the last year it’s escalated, I’m now experiencing sensitivity to light and noises. My eyes feel tired.Slight pain in my jaws. Seen Doc’s had (mri’s) they all said I’m fine except for acid reflux. But I still feel like crap. Can anyone solve this mystery?

Went to the Doctors five times in the last week for same pain. the pain is in my lower left abdomin…first she thought it was a virus, but i am not getting better, then she thought it was mono or dehydration but the lab results were normal, now she seems to think it is acid reflux. the thing is my stomache itself does not hurt, its lower. the pain comes and goes. when i have the pain i cant get comfortable and it feels like someone is twisting my insides. My doctor has prescribed me medication for acid reflux but i dont think i have it. any suggestions?

I went the the doctor he prescribed prevacid 30 days I took one pill then decided to wait on it because I was feeling better. I haven’t started the regimen because before I had constipation so bad that i couldn’t pass gas I am better know but still have bouts of acid reflux to the point of gagging and choking, the more I Read the more I wonder.Ironically not enough acid is the real problem along with possible pancreatic problems or not enough bile released for digestion. Im taking gas pills mylanta and took pepcid twice. A long term acid reflux medication regimen is dangerous your acid is the first line of defense against virus and bacteria long term use puts you at risk for cancer pneumonia the list goes on. What should I do I know its linked to something else I have had a stomach ultrasound it came back ok but that test isn’t reliable in terms of gastrointestinal disorders. Doctors keep telling me im ok they give me pills that will help but in the long term they are problematic what the hell should I do?

for the past year or so at least 5 times a week i experience extreme hunger but i don’t really want to eat because i feel sick from being so hungry. I try to eat mild foods to avoid stomach upset and most of the time i have to eat 6 to 8 pieces of toast to feel any relief when i would normally be fine with 2. and then I have to take acid reflux medicine, nausea medicine, and eat a bunch of tums to actually feel ok again. then after 5 or so minutes of being content i get really bad stomach pains like im going to be sick. sometimes i do throw up and sometimes the pains just plaque me all day. why does this happen and how can i stop it?

I take Nexium for this which helps most of the time but the food caught in my chest and throat feeling is really bothersome. I want to know what actually is happening that would cause this feeling.

A GERD diet plan can play a big role in getting control of your pain and discomfort. Knowing what food to avoid is just as important as knowing what you can eat. Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when this ring of muscle found at the base of the esophagus doesn’ t work adequately and allows stomach acid to move up into your esophagus. An effective GERD diet will contain both food you can eat and food you should do without.

Hello
I wonder if you can give me some advice. I am having several health problems and so far my doctors have no answers. I think they all think that I’m a hypochondriac. I have been very concerned lately and have had some anxiety over this but now I’m no longer suffering from anxiety I just want answers
I am a smoker and have smoked since I was 18. I have made many attempts to quit but am so weak with this. I am 33 years old, Male and work a somewhat stressful job in NYC. I have had IBS for about 3 years which was not officially diagnosed until recently. About a year ago I had a urinary tract infection and I noticed while on the antibiotic I got this pressure under my ribs and shortness of breath. I did some online research and read that the antibiotic (Levequin) filters through the lungs and I figured that was the problem. About a week after finishing the meds the feeling went away.
