If you suffer from acid reflux, with proper care you can forget that you have it. An attack can be scary when you do go through one, though. If you know what the major causes of acid reflux are it may help lessen that fear. You can avoid most attacks just by knowing the major causes. Some causes are beyond your control but for the most part it is fairly simply to keep this disorder under control. Let’s go over some of the major causes of acid reflux and how you can control them.
Do you often find yourself eating late night snacks right before going to bed? There is a reason you’ve been taught not to do that. Most doctors and nutritionists will tell you that eating snacks right before bed is not healthy. In all likelihood, you first heard this when you were a young child. This is one piece of wisdom that is based on fact! Eating right before sleeping, you have an increased chance of suffering from acid reflux.

There is no doubt that acid reflux medication and Proton Pump Inhibitors in particular, do produce that much needed relief from the pain and distress that heartburn causes. But what are the implications of the long term usage of these forms of medication? Could they actually be causing more problems than they are treating?
Recent research suggests that this could be so.

My toddler is 16 months old. Since she was 6 months old i unknowingly overfed my baby. So almost every night she would projectile vomit after she woke up from crying. I seriously had no idea i was doing this. Because during the same time she had gotten sick.. so i just thought that was the reason she threw up so much. However 2 weeks later the sickness went away and the vomitting still occured for another month. What an awful mother i was to not realize what i was doing. til this day i dont forgive myself.
Since she was 6 months old. she started vomitting very easily. like if she cried too long or too hard. or if she ate something and it got stuck in her mouth.. and every single time she got sick she vomit terribly.
would this mean that she had a reflux problem??
since she was a newborn she has been drinking Similac Advance.. and now she drinks Similac go & grow for toddlers because more than a few bottles of red milk causes her to get awfully constipated.
Since she has been drinkin Similac Advance from newborn to 6 months just fine it cant be the formula right??? or could it be??

I’m a 17 year old male, my voice used to crack a lot last year but now it just stopped and my voice is still the same. Sometimes in the morning i wake up with a deep voice but it changes back to my normal voice throughout the day. Could acid reflux have burned my “voice box” and doesn’t let my voice change?

Has anyone had GERD or acid reflux and used medication that made it go away permanently? Or will I have to take medicine for the rest of my life?

I’ve had sharp, stabbing pains in the upper stomach area (and a multitude of other symptoms) for a few months now and they seem to be getting worse. How can I differentiate between GERD or acid reflux type symptoms, and something like aortic stenosis or an aortic dissection.

I have had this battery acid feeling in my throat now off and on for a month. I started taking Prilosec OTC almost two weeks ago and last night I had the worst spell of acid in my throat. I tried taking Maalox and drinking some milk and nothing helped. This is the first time that I have had all day acid and not been able to get rid of it. Does anyone know of an Over the counter medicine that is especially good for acid reflux/acid in throat? I have already tried taking typical antacids like rolaids and Gas-X and of course the prilosec OTC. Or am I describing acid reflux disease and thus should go to the doctor? help!
