The Best Acid Reflux Treatment Does Not Involve Controlling Stomach Acid
Article by Jim Rees
Everyone knows that it is acid reflux that causes the pain and distress of heartburn. So surely, it makes sense then, that if you reduce the amount of acid that your stomach produces, this must be the best way to treat acid reflux. Actually NO, it is not. Contrary to popular belief, the best acid reflux treatment does NOT involve controlling the production of stomach acid.
Yes it is true that it is stomach acid that causes heartburn but simply reducing the amount of acid that is produced is not the most effective way to overcome your problem. This is because, in the majority of cases, it is not the amount of acid that is the problem. It is a weakness, or fault in the valve mechanism that separates your stomach from your gullet that allows acid reflux to occur.

i paid visit to a gastroenterologist yesterday to check my acid reflux. she said it is quite long treatment procedure. i’m now taking nexium 40 mg. as per her prescription. recently, i started to feel this growling sound in my stomach and my stool is really soft. i took a total of 50cc maalox last monday because of the reflux, could it this be the cause? or what are the other causes of this growling sound?

I have been told to cut down on acidic food, i.e. currys, tomatoes, tomatoe puree (or anything with tomatoe puree in) (all that I love)
Onions,Chips,
All citrus fruits, all fizzy pops, tea, coffee.
I understand all this, but now I have also been told to avoid, chocolate, ice cream, cakes, sausage, bacon, cheese. Is there anything left for me to eat. I do not have high cholesterol, so what has the reduction of these second foods got to do with acid reflux.
Hope someone out there is familiar with this condition.
Kind regards

I had the stomach flu (gastroenteritis) a week ago and now I have terrible acid reflux! I’ve never had it before and it won’t go away. I’m taking antibiotics for something else right now and I’m not supposed to have antacid medicine. Any home remedies??
