what does acid reflux feel like?
Went to the Doctors five times in the last week for same pain. the pain is in my lower left abdomin…first she thought it was a virus, but i am not getting better, then she thought it was mono or dehydration but the lab results were normal, now she seems to think it is acid reflux. the thing is my stomache itself does not hurt, its lower. the pain comes and goes. when i have the pain i cant get comfortable and it feels like someone is twisting my insides. My doctor has prescribed me medication for acid reflux but i dont think i have it. any suggestions?

If you are female, have doc do an ultrasound for ovarian cysts or endometriosis. My girlfriend went through hell before they found that out.
i dont think its acid reflux either…it seems spastic colon to me..
just shift to another doctor..
Diagnosing abdominal pain without a full history and examination is not advisable. However, generalizing, gastro-oesophageal reflux would tend to produce pain, discomfort or burning in the upper abdomen, perhaps reaching as far up as the throat. If your discomfort is below your umbilicus it would seem unlikely that it is due to reflux.
Your GP does seem to have had a number of unrelated stabs at the diagnosis. I suspect your best option is to seek medical advice once more.
If you are concerned about the situation just now I would suggest NHS 24/NHS Direct. This would to be frank have the added advantage of getting a fresh eye on the situation.
Well I am young and i have acid reflux disease… And let me tell you it feels like hell. Have you ever slightly thrown up in your mouth? Thats heart burn, and acid reflux is when its recurrent. Its acidy and burney and basically hot in your throat. You may just have eaten a bad food and it doesnt quite settle with your stomach. However if you are truley unsettled with the doctors diagnoses, a second oppinion is what i suggest. For now, i think i would take the medication. Pepcid Complete helps when i have it, so do Tums. But if you leave it untreated it could have a worse effect than just burning. If you have any further questions my email is the same as my username only with @yahoo.com attached at the end.
oh honey…let me tell you. It hurts very badly. I was diagnosed with it 6 months ago and it feels like your esophagus is on fire. You have to avoid foods and sodas like chocolate, limes, lemons, and other things like that. Also any kind of soda really. It feels really bad.. At first, your stomach feels kind of bubbly. Then your esophagus feels like something is coming up. Then your throat burns because something actually does come up. Just avoid these things, take your medicine, and see if the pain doesn’t go away. You can also go on a search engine and look up all the foods you are suppose to stay away from.
