its when the body produces too much acids it usually produces too break down food acid like hydrochloric acid it can be cause when the body under goes stress or the type of food we eat
There is a valve at the bottom of the esophagus where it joins the stomach called the pyloric valve. It is usually closed, but opens when you swallow to let food or drink pass into the stomach. If, due to age, disease, or other cause, the valve does not stay closed when it should, stomach fluids can back up into the esopahgus and cause damage. Such fluids are highly acidic; the stomach can withstand the acid, but the esophagus cannot. Various trade medicines such as Nexium are sold to alleviate the problem by reducing the stomach’s acidity.
It is a condition in which the contents of the stomach get regurgitated back into the esophagus. It is caused by a weakened plyoric sphincter. They can surgically fix it by re-enforcing this sphincter, but that sometimes causes achalasia–in which the food stays in the esophagus too long and is sometimes vomited.
Your stomach always makes acid. If the acid comes up into your esophagus (eating tube) then you can get an acidic or sour taste in yur mouth. This can be quite unpleassant.
Sometimes people can control it Pepcid, Zantac or some other antacid. If it persist, it should be checked by a doctor. Too much acid can cause cancer in the esophagus
acid reflux disease is a misnomer, what you have is not enough stomach acid, that causes a burning sensation in your esophagus which in turn is what is heartburn. the simpple remedy right away is apple cider vinegar followed by digestive hormones for about a month to competely cure the problem.
Actually, the pyloric valve is inside the stomach, it lets small amounts of food to travel into the duodenum, to start the digestive process. The upper stomach, lower esophagus is controlled by the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) When it lets the acid contents of the stomach travel back up into the esophagus, it can cause heartburn or irritation of the tissue in the esophagus. The pills like Prilosec work well to shut down 95% of the acid production, so even if the stomach contents wash back up, they are not so acidic to cause irritation of the tissue there.
