why is my child having chest pains?
My son is 11yrs old. He has been have chest pains for the last 4 months. I have taken him to John’s Hopkins Hospital which specializes in children. They have put him on medication for acid reflux. He is still having the pains and they seem to be when he is upset. He has been through a lot of drama in his life that I am trying to get him away from. He has seen a lot for an 11yr old. I am a single mom and I don’t like children on medicine all the time. What can I do for him? It hurts me to see him in pain but I don’t know what else to do.

If it happens when he’s upset, it’s probably just stress.
Counseling would probably help.
Just make sure you keep giving him the medicine, depending on what type it is, it might take a while to work.
u need to get that checked BIG time. u shouldn’t be posting it on Yahoo, you should be on your way to the hospital and tell them that it IS not Acid Reflux, this could be VERY serious or VERY simple
Hi,
You should consult doctor. Im not doctor to advise correctly but I am a mother and know how kids feel about certain things. You said he has seen so much in his life so, the pain might be because of stress. if so, you should consult doctor and do proper medication. Don’t be afraid of medicines as they are made for good. Once your son feels relax after a while, you can discontinue use of medicine. Give him personal attention and ask him to forget whatever happened to him. Tell him you people are really in good condition otherwise people are really spending difficult life and still feel relax and happy.
My sister-in-law is a doctor and she says that medicines are not bad for humans. You can use them till the disease cures. After that you can discontinue.
You should also be relax and try to divert your attention and same for the boy.
That sounds like what can happen when there are pinched muscles in his back. When he gets stressed he tightens up his body and that in turn makes the muscles tighter in his back and when they are in the rib cage area they tighten the muscles up so bad that the chest wall cannot expand to get a good breath in, it feels like a heavy weight on his chest so it won’t expand. He has to release the muscles in his back to free those muscles back up. You can help him do that by having him sit on a chair in front of you and you put your fingers on his shoulders so your thumbs are going down his back. Take and place them on a muscle on either side of his spine and press into those muscles with a firm pressure. Have him relax now by taking a deep breath and letting it all out and have him stay that relaxed for the rest of the release. After 30 seconds of pressure on his muscles, have him slowly lean forward, very slowly, until he is all the way down into his lap. Once there you can remove the pressure from his back but have him remain on his lap for another 30 seconds. The pressure loosens the muscles up and the leaning releases the pinched area so he should be good to go now.
